Anthropic Launches Claude Duet for Business Tasks

A new AI app from Anthropic targets professionals and small businesses with automated task management and background processing.

The race to build the perfect AI assistant is getting crowded. New tools launch almost every week, each promising to save users time. Anthropic has joined the fray with a new application called Claude Duet. It aims to stand out in a market already filled with competitors like Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Hark, Instinct, Grok Bot, and Fo.

Anthropic says Duet is built for professionals and small businesses. It focuses on automating work and managing tasks. The company draws a clear line between Duet and personal agents. Duet is not designed for simple errands or booking tickets. It also cannot show users its browser activity in real-time. Instead, it works behind the scenes.

The app can create daily briefings and build dashboards. It suggests actions based on user data. Like other AI agents, Duet runs tasks in the background using a virtual machine. Users can keep working while the agent processes requests. It will pause and ask for approval if needed.

This launch marks a shift in the AI market. The focus is moving from simple chatbots to agents that act on behalf of users. Many rivals are also targeting business use cases. Meta released a version of Muse for small businesses with app connections. OpenAI’s Dots also leans toward professional tools.

Anthropic says Duet proactively sends recommendations. It monitors ongoing tasks to stay relevant. The app runs on the Claude Opus 5.5 model. It connects to more than 6,000 tools in the Claude Marketplace. Users can also make online purchases through Stripe’s Link wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay.

Security is a key part of the design. Sensitive steps like payments require user approval. Duet will not trade stocks or move money between bank accounts. Anthropic also released a new classifier. It checks every message to prevent data leaks. By default, the agent will say no if asked for credit card numbers or government IDs.

Claude Duet is available now in research preview. It works on iOS and Android phones. It is also accessible via the web on Claude.ai. The feature is currently limited to Pro and Max customers. Users must join a waitlist to try it out.
